Project Description

Monkeying Around is a VR game that puts players in the shoes of a monkey toy, separated from its mother in the basement of a toy store. Players must navigate their way back to her by climbing between shelf levels, utilizing vertical movement to overcome various obstacles. The primary mechanic revolves around the rhythmic movement of the player's hands, which guides them through the environment. An emotional narrative unfolds through an animated cutscene, allowing players to develop a deeper emotional connection with the character.

My Contributions

Crafted the graybox environment in Unity3D to begin testing the game mechanics and observe how players navigated the virtual space by moving their hands up and down.

Implemented an audio manager to facilitate control of all the game's sounds, including the environmental music and cue sounds.

Utilized Meta's Oculus SDK to integrate a custom hand mesh—monkey paws—for character immersion.

Programmed all collision logic in the game, including collisions that triggered animation sequences.

Designed the player's critical path and placed each climable mesh.

Populated the main game scene with 3D props to evoke a childlike sense of adventure.
